The B Word
Infertility and Other Conversations
Infertility is a terrible disease that so many people suffer from, which many do in silence.
My husband and I struggled with secondary infertility for years. We tried naturally for about 15 months and then started our process with reproductive help at RMA of New Jersey. We went through 2 failed rounds of Clomid, 2 failed ovulation induction injections, 2 failed IUIs, and then began the process of IVF. Luckily we were able to get 3 embryos from our retrieval, after only 6 eggs retrieved. We moved on to our first transfer, which sadly did not work. We did our second transfer right before Christmas of 2019 and received our miraculous news that we were pregnant! Unfortunately, our story was not smooth sailing after that, though.
While I was in the middle of my treatments, I realized that this book was what I was meant to do, no matter how my journey “ended.” I wanted to raise awareness of all that it entails, as I found that so many people knew nothing about it, including myself. So I wrote about every single aspect I could think of, as I went through it all - especially the emotional and physical toll it plays on your body.
I hope this book helps you in a time that may feel so lonely. I hope this book helps you understand what a loved one may be going through. And I hope this book helps bring infertility into open conversation, because this can’t be a secret anymore.

The way that the chapters are written makes you feel like you are living through the heartache and trials and tribulations alongside the author. She is raw, real, and honest as she discusses incredibly difficult topics such as infertility, dealing with the loss of a loved one, and Covid-19... and somehow she does this with a sense of humor! The resilience exhibited by the author is inspirational and it made me feel as if I, too, can overcome anything that comes my way.
